A Treasure You Can’t Keep

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word “treasure”? You may think of money, your possessions, your family and loved ones, the things that you love to do, and the list goes on and on.

But come to think of it, what is your greatest treasure that no one can steal from you, and you can even bring it when you achieve eternal life after you die?

People always ask me why I don’t save money and instead spend it from time to time with the ones who are dear to me? Honestly, I don’t know. I remember when I was a kid, my mother didn’t expose me about money. Inside my wallet were only a right amount of my fare going home, my IDs, and a photo of my mother in it. I even borrowed some money from my classmates when there was unannounced payment from our teacher regarding some materials we need during our class. I didn’t have savings or an account in the bank. That’s why I am not into money or financial stuff and I really hate Accounting subject during high school and college days because I hate counting and balancing money.

I don’t mind it, in fact I am happy about it because I am not attached to money and just share it with others by treating my family and friends, and of course myself as well. But don’t get me wrong, I have some money in case of emergency, it’s just that I am not very particular and obsessed when it comes to keeping and saving money.

We don’t know when is our last day here in this world so might as well enjoy, live, and share what we have. I am not just talking about material things (yes, money can give us happiness because everything we want in life can be bought by money but not everything we need), but also I am talking about service — love, care, you know being there for others during bad times.

After all, money and other things are just nothing when we die. But the generosity and thoughtfulness we give to others are fundamental principles if we are welcome above and have eternal life, or the opposite way.

To whoever is reading this, I hope you will find your real treasure in this world. I hope you are well and doing great in life.

Imme.
